How do you feel…? Kathleen Hall Photography Palm Harbor Fl

I find that, as humans, we value photographs because of the way they make us feel. The stronger the feeling, the more we value the photograph.

Jesh de Rox

When I read this quote by Jesh, (yes, that is his name and correct spelling), I began to think about the photographs in my life and the photographs that I had created.  I found that the ones that stood out are the ones that brought back feelings and memories to my life.  Whether it was remembering a great event or wonderful friends or clients or  “friendclients” (new word, made it up, haha!),  they all touched a place in my heart.  Photos that made me feel good about myself and how I looked also made the list.  Photos that made me laugh or reminisce also came instantly to mind.   Even the ones that were memories of awful news stories, they made me feel. And I realized Jexh had summed it up in two sentences.

When I photograph, I love to create  photographs that will make you feel something.  I have included a few of my favorites below.

A Brand new baby for Mother’s Day…(Palm Harbor Baby Photography)

Who out there knows the joy of a new grand-baby? Well one of my clients was overjoyed at her first granddaughter and wanted to have portraits done so the whole world could see.  But she couldn’t get the baby! You know how new mom’s and dad’s don’t want to let the baby out of their site for a little while.  So, the first time she got the baby by herself, she called to see if I was available and luckily I was and she brought little Cassidy to see me.  She wanted this to be a surprise for mom and dad and we photographed this little doll baby to create heirloom portraits for the parents ( and a few for grandma, too 😉 )  This was to be a first Mother’s Day surprise, but I know she couldn’t wait and gave her the portrait a little early.  Happy Mothers Day to all with these fun little images.  Whether your baby is still a baby or off to college, you will always hold a special place in your children’s hearts. Enjoy!

Expressive hands…

I just love what hands can say within a portrait.  If the hands are all by themselves, like the first image below, you can tell a full story of the 4 generations represented here of all these wonderful women and women to be…Grandma, Mom, daughters, granddaughter and great-grand daughter.  Then you have all seen the ring photographs of the bride and groom where it tells the story of their new life beginning together and what the rings symbolize.  There are other types of images, like the full image of a group where the family members are all touching each other in a very loving, relaxed way.  And the daddy holding his newborn son, the size of the dad’s hands so protective and just a peek of the newborn’s tiny hands   One of my new favorites is of this image below of a young girl.  The pose, the touch of makeup and the expression all speak of a budding teenager, but not quite.  The soft child like hands tell that this young woman has a little while to go before she truly enters the next stage of her life.  Some of my favorite images.

Sweet Infant Portraits…

Dad and Mom brought in sweet little “G” when she was only 9 days old!  Love these little ones…so perfect and darling.  This little one wanted to stay wide awake for her photo shoot, unusual for a newborn.  So lots of eyes open for mom and dad.  But we managed to get a few sleeping ones with Dad holding her all warm and cozy!  This is your sneak peek – lots more to come!  See you on Saturday to preview the rest.  Enjoy!

Smiling in his sleep…{Palm Harbor Newborn Photographer}

Little “I” came in today, 8 days new and cute as a button.  He was asleep at the start and we began in the heated studio to keep him warm and worked from there.  He was so cute when he was just getting settled, he smiles in his sleep!  Mom and Dad say that he does that all the time.  I can’t wait to get to know him when he gets older if he is already that happy!  Take a look.   This is your sneak peek, Heidi and Paul.  Enjoy.  See you next week! (And another big thanks to my friend Rebecca, who knits these ADORABLE hats!)
