How do you feel…? Kathleen Hall Photography Palm Harbor Fl

I find that, as humans, we value photographs because of the way they make us feel. The stronger the feeling, the more we value the photograph.

When I read this quote by Jesh, (yes, that is his name and correct spelling), I began to think about the photographs in my life and the photographs that I had created. I found that the ones that stood out are the ones that brought back feelings and memories to my life. Whether it was remembering a great event or wonderful friends or clients or “friendclients” (new word, made it up, haha!), they all touched a place in my heart. Photos that made me feel good about myself and how I looked also made the list. Photos that made me laugh or reminisce also came instantly to mind. Even the ones that were memories of awful news stories, they made me feel. And I realized Jexh had summed it up in two sentences.

When I photograph, I love to create photographs that will make you feel something. I have included a few of my favorites below.

Dancing Kristina…

With all the model, fashion and glamour type of images I am doing, I tried out this new look out on a beautiful young girl this past week. The trick is to use the right shutter speed and aperture combination to get a crisp face and a flowing skirt. The large image on the top is the one I love to have a “stand alone” image of. The face is tranquil and lovely and then there is so much movement in the skirt and the scarf. It just tells volumes about the girl becoming a young women. She seems so at peace and confident in who she is becoming. I also love the series, it tells a story of fun and excitement at this session! I have decided to make this storyboard a new product line available in a 10×20 to take advantage of several different images that my clients might like to have together.

Pregnancy becomes her…

Kim is pregnant with her first baby and wanted to have some really fabulous images done to remember this special time in her life. She and her husband came in and she has this incredible look. Her eyes speak volumes! As with all my clients, I bring lighting and posing to the forefront to capture the best image possible and always work with the client’s personality to bring out their best. Kim is due very soon and I know she will have a beautiful baby!

It all began with my sister…

I had had this idea for a little while about creating portraits of women in a way that they would feel beautiful about themselves again. Treat them extra special and create loving, warm images to show them how beautiful they really are. My sister came to visit and she had lost 90 pounds in the last year. But she was still waiting to “lose a few more” before she went shopping and bought new clothes. We all know how that is. Or, if you are still 17, maybe you don’t. 🙂 But, we went shopping, I took her to my salon, Salon Bella Flora, and they graciously worked her in and did her hair and make up and VIOLA! We created portraits to knock her socks off! New clothes and the ability to see herself in the best light (pun intended!) changed the way she looked at herself.
